A Day in the Life of a Regional
Wealth Planner

8:30 am - Arrive at my office
Review the highlights of the recent Provincial Budget and consider which clients can benefit from the proposed changes. Make notes for later follow up. Check email and voice mail messages.
9:00 am - Prep for a meeting
Review a Comprehensive Wealth Plan that has been prepared for high net worth clients. I call the analyst who prepared the financial analysis section to request a modification. Then I meet with my colleague who is a lawyer to review the section on strategies for wealth transfer. I make sure that she is available to join next week's presentation. I then make a call to the Assante Advisor to discuss the key conclusions of the report that will be presented to his client.
10:00 am - Follow up from yesterday's client meeting
I organize information obtained from yesterday to be submitted to our central team to prepare a report. The information includes income tax returns, pension statements, insurance policies, and wills, as well as, various documents from the small business. I send a message to thanking for the meeting and request some missing documents that are still needed for the report.
12:30 pm - Lunch meeting at a branch
I leave the office with my colleague to visit an Assante branch for lunch. We plan to review how we can assist the advisors with prospecting for new high net worth clients. While there, two advisors are interested in learning more about the tax advantages of our products. We book follow up meetings to review specific opportunities for their high net worth clients.
2:00 pm - Back in my office for the afternoon
I answer email questions from Assante advisors on various subjects. One advisor was requesting a change in some assumptions we used in an existing Financial Plan. Another message was from a client concerned about the new Provincial Budget and how it may impact them.
2:30 pm - Client presentation
Meet with client to present a Wealth Plan. This client recently sold their business and today's meeting is to provide them a specific retirement strategy that will help them leave a sizeable amount of money for their heirs. There was a lot to consider - inflation, tax rates, changes in spending habits, and expected return on investments.
5:00 pm - National conference call
I dial into the conference call with my peers from across the country. The call is hosted by our central resources team to review new tailored reports they can produce for clients related to wealth transfer. We all agree that the new reports will provide more competitive advantage to our high net worth clients.
5:30 pm - Evening Event
Tonight we are hosting an Assante Advisor Networking event at our 15 York Street loction roof top patio and lounge. It won't run too late, but I am looking forward to connecting in a casual atmosphere with some clients and colleagues while sharing some good food and drinks.
